L.L. Koong Named in "2011 The World Top 10 Outstanding Overseas Chinese of Guangdong Origin"'

Koong Lin Loong, managing partner of our Malaysia member firm, Reanda LLKG International Chartered Accountants, was honored "2011 The World Top 10 Outstanding Overseas Chinese of Guangdong Origin" at the 6th Conference of the World Guangdong Community Federation held in Bangkok, Thailand on August 13. He was the only honoree from Malaysia to receive the recognition. The award, which is in its first year, aims to acknowledge and encourage the new generation of young overseas Chinese of Guangdong origin that had made notable contribution to their resident countries and home country. Criteria for the selection includes but not limited to: 1.Full integration into the local society; 2.Demonstrated contribution to promote and assist overseas Chinese's integration into the local society; 3.Dedication to the Chinese community; 4.Strong involvement in promoting Chinese culture inheritance and social harmony in the community; and 5.Enthusiastic participation in public welfare undertakings. In addition to Koong's professional endeavors, he is an active member of the community. He has been devoted to serving the business community and other organizations over the years to facilitate democracy and modernization within the structure of the organizations. He also involved in work with national youth organizations in an effort to empower young people to achieve their fullest potential as active and equal citizens. The awards were presented by Mr. Chalerm Yubamrung, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand; Mr. Guan Mu, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Thailand; Mr. Ma Rupei, Vice Minister of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China and Mr. Tang Hao, Secretary General of Guangdong Provincial Government. The nine other awardees are from Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, England, France, Panama, USA, New Zealand and South Africa.
