Reanda International 2012 Annual Conference, Singapore

Reanda International's 2012 Annual Conference was held on 10-11 December, 2012 at the Amara Hotel in Singapore, one of the most dynamic cities in Asia. The Conference was well attended with a record number of 40 delegates from all Reanda network firms across China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Macau, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, Cyprus, Mauritius and Indonesia. The event was notable for two firsts: the first time that the Reanda International Annual Conference had been held outside the territory of China since its inauguration in 2010 and the first ever International Tax Panel Meeting had been held.

The theme this year was "Collaborate our growth, harmonize as one" to exemplify our commitment and dedication to work with our network firms seamlessly for mutual benefits, as well as to represent our aspirations to continuously grow and advance as the leading accounting network in the Asian region. Our message is clear: Reanda members stand united as one in providing clients with high-quality professional services. The Annual Conference was not only an important annual event to provide networking and learning opportunities, but also to provide a forum for members to contribute towards the overall development strategy of the Reanda International network.

On 10 December 2012, the conference preceded by a tour to the Reanda Singapore office in the morning, which provided delegates a great opportunity to mix and mingle with old and new friends in Reanda. In the afternoon, the conference commenced with a welcome speech by our gracious host Mr. Yin Kum Choy, managing partner from Reanda Singapore, followed by an opening speech by Mr. Huang Jinhui, Chairman of Reanda International. The conference was continued with a signing ceremony to admit SCI Associates as the network's new Mauritius member firm and Drs Bernardi & Co as the new Indonesian member firm.

The meeting continued with Mr. Franklin Lau, CEO of Reanda International presenting the network's performance for the year, strategies and initiatives in the pipeline. This was followed by a presentation by the Chairman, Mr. Huang, and Mr. Tang Yishu, who is the partner of Reanda China and board member of Reanda International, about the implementation plan of China Desk. The demands of professional support from Chinese enterprises are increasing in recent years. In an effort to accelerate the bilateral business opportunities between Reanda China and other network firms, the network sees the need to launch the China Desk program expeditiously. The China Desk will be established by phase in various member firms and staffed with professional accountants from Reanda China who has extensive experiences in serving China-based enterprises. The Chinese professionals, to be stationed in overseas members on a regular basis, will work hand-in-hand with the local members to provide professional services to Chinese enterprises doing business in overseas. The program is expected to be operative in 2013.

Presentations by members firms on their latest development rounded out the day 1 meeting.

Day 2 of the conference included the first ever International Tax Panel Meeting. The theme for the International Tax Panel Meeting "Collaborate our Tax Excellence" tied in neatly with the theme of the Annual Conference. The objective of meeting was to bring together tax partners from Reanda members to improve links and to come to grips with cross-border tax issues.

The Panel was pleased to report that the development of the Tax Panel over the past year was gaining momentum with a number of initiatives already underway.

This was followed by an interactive discussion on transfer pricing and immigration programs offers for individuals. Several member firms introduced their latest tax development in their respective regions and the business opportunities available to Reanda firms.

The meeting was further brimmed with a series of presentations from member firms to provide glance of tax regime and comprehensive update of topical tax developments in their respective regions.

After a lavish buffet lunch at the Hotel, the conference ended with a half day memorable tour to explore the delights of the city.
