Reanda International hosted the 6th Belt and Road Business Services Forum in Beijing, China

On 27 December 2022, the 6th Belt and Road Business Services Forum co-hosted by Reanda International and China Institute of International Trade was held in hybrid format at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Beijing, China with virtual connections. The Forum was well attended by over 300 delegates, including distinguished guests such as current and former officials from the offices of Chinese embassies abroad, government officials, industry leaders, representatives of various business organisations, entrepreneurs, Reanda clients, media outlets as well as Reanda International member firms around the globe, either joining in-person in Beijing or joining virtually.

 

Themed "Protecting the Economic Interests and Economic Information Security of Chinese Enterprises", the forum was aimed at addressing the issues of overseas investment risks, protection of economic interests as well as managing economic information security in the overseas to better support Chinese enterprises investing abroad. Hosted by Mr. Bian Zhenhu, vice chairman and secretary general of the China Institute of International Trade, the forum commenced with welcome remarks by Mr. Jin Xu, chairman of China Association of International Trade and former minister counsellor for the Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Chinese Embassy in the UK and Mr. Liu Shanzai, former deputy minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and former deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

 

The forum was then opened by keynote speeches from the following five distinguished guests in sharing their insights respectively on promoting the joint contribution to the Belt and Road Initiative projects with high-quality business services: Mr. Zhu Guangyao, official of the department of trade in services and commercial services of the Chinese ministry of commerce; Mr. Liu Feng, official of the Beijing Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese; Mrs. Gao Yuanyuan, president of China Association for International Economic Cooperation; Mr. Duan Yuangang, chief accountant of Beijing Yiqing Holding Co Ltd; Mr. Huang Mengfu, vice chairman of the 10th and 11th CPPCC and chairman of the 9th and 10th All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce; Mr. Jiang Zengwei, chairman of the Global Alliance for Trade in Service and former vice minister of the Chinese ministry of commerce. This session concluded with a presentation by Mr. Huang Jinhui, chairman of Reanda International, in which he presented the achievement of Reanda International in the past 13 years. He also indicated that in the face of the world's unprecedented changes in a century, Reanda International would continue to support the Chinese enterprises to “go abroad” and protect their economic interests and economic information security in overseas, hence empowering the Chinese enterprises to navigate challenges for successful development in the overseas.

 

This was followed by a dialogue session on the risks of cross-border investment facing enterprises on the Belt and Road initiative projects, as moderated by Mr. Liu Mingguo, former counselor of economic and commercial Offices of Chinese embassies in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia and Lithuania. The session was kicked off by a keynote speech from Mr. Xia Xiang, former minister of economic and commercial affairs of the Chinese mission to the EU, on the achievements of economic and trade cooperation between China and countries along the Belt and Road route from 2013 to 2021. A variety of distinguished guests and Reanda International representatives were then invited to discuss and share insights on the opportunities and challenges encountered by enterprises given the current global economy in the context of pandemic, Russian-Ukraine conflict and great power game: Mr. Chhabindra Parajuli, minister of economics of the embassy of Nepal in China; Ms. Sandrine Nduwimana, director of international liaison department of China-Africa Business Council; Mr. Ma She, former minister counsellor of the commercial counsellor's office of the Chinese embassy in France; Mr. Song Ning, tax director of Sunshine Insurance Group; Mr. Sunil Jagetiya, director of Reanda International and chairman of Reanda UAE; Mr. Gerard Uijtendaal, vice president of the European Regional Committee of Reanda International and managing partner of Reanda Netherlands.

The forum was continued with a round table discussion on protection of economic interests and security of economic information of Chinese enterprises, as hosted by Mr. Chai Haitao, member of the national high-end think tank expert advisory committee of the Chinese ministry of commerce. A variety of distinguished guests were then invited to discuss on solutions for the common difficulties encountered by the overseas operations of Chinese enterprises as well as insights on how business service organisations can better assist Chinese enterprises to enhance their capabilities in protecting interests overseas: Ms. Chen Li, general manager of Beijing investment division of Hongdou group; Mr. Han Bing, former minister counselor of the economic and commercial counselor office of the Chinese embassies in Zimbabwe and Egypt; Mr. Liu Mingguo, former counselor of economic and commercial offices of Chinese embassies in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia and Lithuania; Mr. Wang Yaping, chairman of the Accounting Society for Foreign Economic Relations & Trade of China and former counselor of the economic and commercial office of the Chinese embassy in Cyprus; Mr. Bowen Guo, general manager of overseas business unit of Yonyou Network; Mrs. Yang Lin, executive chairwoman, founding partner of Yingke Law Firm; Mr. Wang Yun, vice secretary general of the China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector.

The forum was concluded with closing address by Ms. Gu Yanfen, secretary general of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. During the forum, a grand signing ceremony was held to welcome new firms from Azerbaijan, India and Rwanda to join Reanda International. Besides, strategic cooperation agreement was also entered between Reanda International and Yingke Law Firm during this significant occasion.
